Heath Urquhart

Heath Urquhart
Heath is a key landscape adviser to the "Peony of the Month" series on behalf of Binny Plants.
Plants and growing things have always been a passion for Heath, but it was the decision to sell their sheep and cattle farm in New Zealand that led him to a change in career and country in 2015.
Heath farmed with his parents 4000 acres in a beautiful mountainous valley in the South Island. The winters could be harsh at 500-1500m above sea level but it was also a great place to grow plants-in particular trees. He left a legacy of several thousand trees of many different species.
Just before moving to the UK, Heath also worked for a Peony grower that annually produces 400-500,000 stems for the cut flower market.
His long passion for horticulture led me to Edinburgh, completing a Bachelor in Garden and Greenspace Design. Whilst working during his studies, Heath met and became good friends with Billy Carruthers, the owner of Binny Plants, which has evolved us collaborating on numerous projects, including RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
Heath is also working as the Landscape Manager for Gardens by Watergems, which is a leading landscape company, and he now live in Edinburgh with his partner Kobus, who is also a key player at Binny Plants.
