The Peony Girl

This stunning French navy blue shawl is one of our most popular designs, first made available during the 2021 RHS Chelsea Flower Show as 100% silk. We now offer this design in two fabric variations: silk wool and cotton cashmere & modal, as seen on BBC and ITV News during the creation of a Chinese New Year mural commissioned by John Lewis & Partners Leicester. 

Silk gives the shawl a shining look and a lush feel. Once launched, the silk shawls were sold immediately at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2021.

Silk wool is a very popular type of blended fabric. It's an excellent choice for scarves and other accessories due to its soft look and versatility - it can be paired with multiple outfits, whether you want to dress up or down. Wool provides a warming handle, while silk gives strength and lustre to the colours. The material is very smooth and delicate on the skin.

Cotton cashmere & modal is a beautiful, sheer fabric that carries colour very well.  The cashmere adds softness, and cotton and modal provide strength. Modal is a material derived from wood pulp, as an alternative to silk, possessing breathability and the ability to hold colour, causing the scarf to be light, comfortable and chic finish.

Composition: Cotton, 78%; Modal, 20%; Cashmere, 2%.

The gold and white peonies are from the painting "Peony Blossom: Gold". The pair of birds comes from the painting "Melody of Tranquility". The colour of the scarf - PANTONE 13-0647 Illuminating - was announced as one of Pantone's colours of the year, which makes it an interesting combination of modern art and traditional Chinese painting, great for those who want to make an artistic statement!

A pair of birds comes from the colourful "Spring Concerto", a painting depicting a concert of blooming peonies accompanied by birds, bees, and butterflies. The Peonies come from the Peony Portraits series - the Pink Peony is delicate and sweet, and the Purple Peony is active, dancing, and celebrating life.

'Court Jester' is a bold Intersectional Peony with single orange/apricot flowers with red flares at the base of each petal and a ring of golden-yellow stamens before fading to a creamy-pale yellow with age.

The original floral painting depicts a delicate 'Madame Louis Henry'. Originating in France, this tree peony is distinctive for its flushed carmine-pink petals and large bowl-shaped flowers up to 7 inches in diameter.

A personal favourite of hers, this slow-growing peony was recommended by Anne Chambers from the beautiful Kiftsgate Court Gardens. About the featured peony   

The original floral painting depicts a Japanese peony 'Kamada Nishiki'. Originating in Japan, it’s an old variety of tree peony, known for its longevity and ability to produce up to 200 huge, fragrant flowers per plant - propelled by long, woody stems.  

This long-lived purple-pink peony was recommended by Dominic Wong, the Peony Man from Australia who grows tree peonies (as well as some intersectional and herbaceous peonies).
